چکیده

The interest taken in studying pathomorphological and pathophysiological mechanisms behind periodontal inflammation affecting children with undifferentiated connective tissue dysplasia (UCTD) can be accounted for by the disease high prevalence, risk of its progression, as well morphological functional immaturity tissues low effectiveness available treatment options. study into matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) expression gum oral fluid biopsy material UCTD is both scientific practical value terms diagnostic identification, course assessment, design individualized modes diseases. In order to determine specific features MMP-2, MMP-8, MMP-9 expression, our involved 61 diseases various degrees UCTD, 27 healthy intact periodontium. implied analyzing participants’ immune-histochemical studies enzyme immunoassay results. MMP concentration revealed that a prominent degree had their (medians 5.49 ng/ml, 478.4 921.6 respectively) exceeding significantly these enzymes whose could described mild 2.76 317.1 584.3 respectively). An analysis showed MMP-2 not reliable indicator offer data required assess clinical status tissues, since it detected periodontium syndrome. MMP-8 provide an objective description active phase inflammation, which means should considered biomarkers activity at manifestation stage. Biochemical immunohistochemical syndrome used identify structural status, nature detect potential groups vulnerable development diseases, evaluate schemes comprehensive issues.

Matrix metalloproteinases and their inhibitors in connective tissue remodeling.

Matrix metalloproteinases are an important group of zinc enzymes responsible for degradation of the extracellular matrix components such as collagen and proteoglycans in normal embryogenesis and remodeling and in many disease processes such as arthritis, cancer, periodontitis, and osteoporosis. A matrixin family is defined, comprising at least seven members that range in size from Mr 28,000 to ...

Prevalence of Metabolic Syndrome in Patients with Periodontal Disease

Background & Aims: Metabolic syndrome is composed of interrelated cardiovascular and cardiometabolic risk factors. Moreover, recent researches have illustrated the association of systemic diseases and periodontitis. Thus, the early diagnosis of this syndrome, as a cardiometabolic risk factor, seems necessary. The aim of this study was to evaluate the prevalence of metabolic syndrome in patients...

Fibrillin degradation by matrix metalloproteinases: implications for connective tissue remodelling.

Fibrillin is the principal structural component of the 10-12 nm diameter elastic microfibrils of the extracellular matrix. We have previously shown that both fibrillin molecules and assembled microfibrils are susceptible to degradation by serine proteases. In this study, we have investigated the potential catabolic effects of six matrix metalloproteinases (MMP-2, MMP-3, MMP-9, MMP-12, MMP-13 an...

Growth Factors and Connective Tissue Homeostasis in Periodontal Disease

Periodontal disease is one of the major dental pathologies that affect human populations worldwide at high prevalence rates (Petersen, 2003). Periodontal diseases represents a family of heterogeneous chronic inflammatory lesions that involve the periodontium, a connective tissue protected by the epithelium, important to attach the teeth to the bone in the jaws and to support the teeth during fu...

Biochemical studies on cholesterol in in vivo cultivated connective tissue.

In vivo cultivated connective tissue is rich in lipids. That obtained from man and chicken has larger concentrations of neutral fat and cholesterol than connective tissue of other species. Connective tissue synthesizes cholesterol and possesses a striking avidity for retention of either endogenous or exogenous cholesterol. The fibrous portion of sponge-connective tissue of the rabbit incorporat...
